Forsee Power starts series production of light electric vehicles batteries in Pune, India

Paris, June 3, 2021 – Forsee Power, the expert in smart battery systems, began the production in series of batteries for electric two and three wheelers in India. This is a significant step for the Group that entered the Indian market in 2020.


Ramping up production to 1 GWh by 2025

Forsee Power has established in India to support the country’s ambitious plan toward electrification of mobilities. The Group who partners with OEMs to enable their transition to electrification will position in India on its two flagship markets, the two/ three wheelers, and the bus.

The Group already employs 30 people and will grow to 50 by the end of the year to staff production, sales and after sales functions.

The serial production of batteries for light electric vehicles in Forsee Power’s factory in Pune started on May 12th, 2021.

The factory is located in the strategic Chakan Industrial Area that hosts numerous automotive manufacturing companies, only 35 km from the Pune airport.

A European leader in battery systems for 100% battery and fuel cell heavy vehicles, Forsee Power will extend its range to high voltage systems for bus, marine, rail, industrial and commercial vehicles in 2023. Indian production capacity will progressively reach 1 GWh in 2025.

A modern and sustainable plant

Forsee Power batteries will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint in India and the Group is committed to sustainable operations in the country.

The site is equipped with state-of-the art assembly lines as well as laboratories and testing capabilities. It includes automatic spot-welding capabilities on cylindrical cells, production and control equipment, BMS testers as well as high-voltage and end-of-line testing equipment. Another line will be added later this year to ramp up production capacities for light electric vehicles, especially for three-wheelers, which are a key area of focus in the FAME 2 national plan for electromobility.

Committed to limiting impact on the climate and environment, Forsee Power has set a Sustainability Roadmap toward 2025 in which the Pune plant will take an active part.

To reach a 50% share of renewable energy in the plant’s energy consumption, solar panel will be installed. Other objectives include reduction in production waste and a rate of 100% of waste sent to recycling or revalorization.
